Thirty years ago, music director Martin Marks brought his passion for rock music from Sweden to The United States with his brother Mike in their band. Their band headlined classic venues such as The Troubadour in 1990 and 1991. Since arriving in 1989, Martin has penned 300 songs, recorded 145, and released five albums. As a performer, he has played over 600 shows and reached #2 and #4 on MTV Nordic Top Five. He has been an integral part of the music scene in Boulder, Los Angeles, and Stockholm, as well as in his home province of Skåne, Sweden. Martin's dedication to music also extends to teaching at a music school, where he inspires the next generation of artists. Additionally, he is set to perform at the exciting Niwot Gig.

After marrying and having his daughter Odette, music director Martin Marks wanted to share his gifts and experience of music, leading him to become a music director in Los Angeles. At the music school, he realized his strengths in developing music talent but, more importantly, in creating an atmosphere that ignited passion for music among students of all ages. Under his direction, Martin grew the school to full capacity, thanks to the confidence instilled in their skills and the enthusiasm fostered in a positive learning environment. Students were high-fiving in the hallways and inspired to practice at home. He even received letters from parents sharing that their children were putting down their devices for the first time to engage with music. Meanwhile, the Niwot Gig provided a platform for showcasing this burgeoning talent.

After two decades in California, music director Martin Marks exchanged the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean for the Rocky Mountains, making Niwot, Colorado his home and creative base. Nine years ago, he moved to Niwot, CO with his wife and daughter. In 2020, Martin and his daughter Odette wrote and recorded an album together, and at twelve years old, Odette is now at a great age to be in her first band. This inspired Martin to open a music school. In 2022, Martin Marks began a new venture to share his love of music with others, both children and adults, by opening a music school in his hometown called The Niwot Gig.
